Frequently Asked Questions

"How do I refer someone to BRAINS?"

The easiest way to refer someone to BRAINS is to provide the person with our phone number and encourage them to call and schedule an appointment.  Our support staff will answer questions and help that person select who, how, and where to begin.

"What if I don’t know where to begin?"

You can either call our office and say “I would like to schedule an initial appointment,” or complete and submit our intake form online and someone from our office will contact you within one business day.  Our staff will help you decide what service is most appropriate, who to meet with, and can answer any additional questions.

"We’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help.  Why would this be different?"

Many patients report participating in previous treatment with little to no benefit, or a return of symptoms after treatment ended.  BRAINS provides a unique approach to treatment that examines the many physical, emotional, and environmental factors that can influence symptoms.  This approach can help identify barriers to treatment and provide clients with greater opportunities for success.

"Do you prescribe medications?"

Dr. WIlliam Walters is now at BRAINS on a limited basis to provide psychiatric services to clients.  Please contact our office for more information.  BRAINS also works closely with other psychiatrists and physicians to coordinate care and provide updated information about treatment progress.  Clients have the right to maintain the privacy of their records and must sign a release of information if they would like their services at BRAINS to be coordinated with a physician.

"How much will services cost?"

Costs can vary depending on the service provided and the clinician’s degree.  Please contact our office for a complete list of services and costs.  Many services may be covered by your insurance under the outpatient mental health coverage portion of your policy.

"Do you take my insurance?"

BRAINS works with most major area insurance providers, including:

•    Blue Cross Blue Shield
•    MESSA
•    PPOM
•    ASR
•    ValuOptions
•    Blue Care Network
•    Magellan
•    CompCare
•    Aetna
•    Cigna

If your insurance provider is not listed here, please contact our office to determine if BRAINS is or will be working with that insurance, or to review other payment options.

What if I need to miss, cancel, or reschedule an appointment?
Our cancellation policy requires 24 hour notice for cancellations or to reschedule an appointment.  Missed appointments or those cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are subject to a $50 fee (this rate may be different for testing appointments or assessments).
