Learning Disability/Educational Assessment

Educational assessments can evaluate intelligence, performance in specific subject areas, and learning abilities. BRAINS assessment clinic is experienced in completing these evaluations, offering information that is useful for the school and strategies that families can implement at home. Additional treatment recommendations and referrals are also made when appropriate.

A typical assessment evaluates intelligence and achievement (how the child is performing in areas like math, spelling, reading, etc.).  We are also attentive to other factors that can impact learning, and offer additional testing to explore these pieces further.  This can include evaluating how accurately the child sees and hears the world around, how well the child expresses ideas, and other skills that are valuable in the classroom.  BRAINS is available to conduct such assessments, although they are often conducted in a school setting by a certified educator, since health insurance policies commonly exclude this testing from coverage.

Educational evaluations can assess:

  • Intelligence
  • Performance in specific subject areas
  • Reading abilities
  • Learning disabilities
  • Nonverbal learning disabilities
