BRAINS earns Three-Year CARF Accreditation

October 7, 2020

BRAINS received welcomed news today that the facility’s assessment and referral and outpatient treatment programs for adults, children, and adolescents have earned a three-year accreditation. This accreditation signifies that the clinic has met annual conformance requirements for quality standards that enhance the lives of persons served. According to CARF surveyors, Behavioral Resources And Institute for Neuropsychological Services, PLC (BRAINS) is committed to successful outcomes for persons served and has a talented leadership team and staff that are committed to compassionate service delivery. The organization is a collaborative partner in the Grand Rapids community, striving to assist clients with redefining their potentials despite their diagnoses. The organization has visionary leadership, staff, and other stakeholders who are committed to continuous improvement.

CARF found that BRAINS clients report that they are genuinely cared for and valued by the staff members. In an interview with surveyors, one parent stated BRAINS was able to give them answers that no one else was able to give and that their teenage boy actually loves to go to therapy. Another parent said “I don’t know where my family would be without BRAINS. Everyone is happy and helpful, and they go above and beyond to meet our needs.” CARF recognized that BRAINS is client-focused and takes the time to show how valued the clients are.

Being a mission-focused facility, “redefining potential” is at the core of BRAINS’ organizational vision. The final accreditation report stated that the organization is committed to a continuum of care and promotes a philosophy that encourages staff and clients to recognize the boundless possibilities of persons served beyond a diagnosis. This philosophy is inherent in the energy that the organization exhibits in its constant improvement models and captured in its performance measurements, workforce development, and input from persons served.

Accreditation is an ongoing process that distinguishes a provider’s service delivery and signals to the public that the provider is committed to continuous performance improvement, responsive to feedback, and accountable to the community and its other stakeholders. CARF accreditation has been the recognized benchmark of quality health and human services for more than 50 years.
