9/20/2017 Social Work & BRAIN-BASED PRACTICE: INTEGRATION WITH NEUROPSYCHOLOGY

Course Information

The past few decades have produced technological advancements that have significantly enriched our understanding of the brain and how this informs behaviors. Our understanding of the human brain and biophysiological processes involved in behavior have shed light on the etiology, treatment, and prevention of mental illness, addiction, and other psychosocial conditions. Social workers are finding that neuropsychological evaluations are drastically enhancing their ability to conceptualize clients and amend treatment protocols with differential diagnosis. Learning the value of assessment and how to integrate data from a neuropsychologist can maximize the social worker’s success in enriching the lives of their clients. A brief introduction to neuropsychological assessment will be provided to increase awareness of how diagnostic clarity is making a difference in the practice of the social worker.
