9/20/2017 NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT: WHAT’S IT GOOD FOR?

Course Information
A brief introduction to neuropsychological assessment will be provided to increase awareness of how diagnostic clarity is making a difference in treatment and maximizing the potential of the individual. Understanding how neuropsychology offers a different perspective from traditional psychological assessment and how to use test data across settings will be reviewed. This course will also cover the expectations for an individual considering an evaluation and what sort of information can be useful to provide to the neuropsychologist to ensure the most comprehensive and accurate assessment.

Course Instructor Information
Jennifer Maurer, PsyD & Christina Warholic, PsyD
Drs. Maurer and Warholic are clinical neuropsychologists practicing at BRAINS. Both providers have a pediatric focus but conduct assessments for individuals across the life span. Drs. Maurer and Warholic have a wide range of experience offering differential diagnosis including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Medical/Genetic Disorders, ADHD, Processing Disorders, Learning Disabilities, and Mood Disorders.

Objectives
1. Participants will increase knowledge about the field of neuropsychology
2. Participants will gain understanding of what types of referrals are appropriate for assessment
3. Participants will learn what to expect and how to prepare for assessment
4. Participants will develop understanding of how the results may be used to assist with treatment
