Emely Javier, MA, CCC-SLP

Emely joins BRAINS after working for Flint Community Schools as a Speech-Language Pathologist since 2020. She worked with elementary students, grades K-6, with a variety of diagnoses and special education eligibility. Emely spent the past year and a half evaluating and treating students with language and articulation disorders and delays, fluency disorders, nonverbal communication, Autism Spectrum Disorder, cognitive impairments, and emotional impairments. Emely enjoys working with children, as well as adults. During her internship at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, she gained experience evaluating and treating adults who suffered strokes and traumatic brain injuries, as well as adults diagnosed with autism and cerebral palsy. Specifically, she assisted with determining the most appropriate form of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device for those patients.

After spending two years on the East side of Michigan, Emely is returning to West Michigan in order to be closer to her family and begin her career with BRAINS. Emely and her partner are excited to settle down in Holland, where they can finally enjoy the beaches and outdoors. Emely is looking forward to working with the amazing BRAINS team because she believes that being a native Spanish speaker will grant her the opportunities to educate and provide services to the Spanish-speaking community that is in need of a voice to represent and advocate for them. Emely is ready to take on the challenges and opportunities that BRAINS has to offer. She brings her kind-hearted, dedicated attitude, ready to help any family that walks through the doors.

Emely es una patóloga del habla que a estado trabajando en las escuelas publicas de Flint desde el año 2020. Ella trabajó con estudiantes que demonstraban una variedad de condiciones y elegibilidad para educación especial. Durante el año y miedo que trabajó con las escuelas de Flint, Emely evualó y trató estudiantes con trastornos y retrasos del lenguaje y de articulación, trastornos del tartamudeo, modos de comunicación no verbal, desorden del espectro autista, deterioro cognitive, e impedimentos emocionales. A Emely le encanta trabajar con niños y adultos.

Durante su pasantía en Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, adquirió experiencia en la evaluación y el tratamiento de adultos que sufrieron derrames cerebrales y lesiones cerebrales traumáticas, así como adultos diagnosticados con autismo y parálisis cerebral. Específicamente, ayudó a determinar la forma más apropiada de dispositivo de comunicación aumentativa y alternativa (AAC), o modos de comunicación no verbal, para esos pacientes.

Después de pasar dos años en el lado este de Michigan, Emely regresa a West Michigan para estar más cerca de su familia y comenzar su carrera con BRAINS. Emely y su pareja están emocionados de establecerse en Holland, donde finalmente podrán disfrutar de las playas y el aire libre.

Emely espera trabajar con el increíble equipo de BRAINS. Ella cree que ser una hablante nativa del español le brindará la oportunidad de educar y proveer servicios a la comunidad hispana que necesita una voz para representarlos. Emely está lista para asumir los desafíos y las oportunidades que BRAINS tiene para ofrecer; Ella está aportando su actitud bondadosa y dedicada, lista para ayudar a cualquier familia que entre por las puertas.
