Biography

Laura is clinical social worker who has experience working with all ages but specializes in 18 years and older with families and individuals who struggle with trauma, grief and loss, substance abuse, depression, and anxiety.  Laura has been providing clinical services for nearly 12 years with over half the time in psychiatric services as a clinician at Forest View Hospital in the Partial Hospitalization Program and Inpatient Services.  She has specialized in trainings with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive processing trauma therapy (CPT), and trauma focused therapy with children and adults.

Laura was born and raised in West Michigan and began her career as a social worker working with the elderly and dementia patients in a nursing home.  She went to Calvin University and achieved her bachelor’s in social work. She also went to Western Michigan University and accomplished her masters in clinical social work.  Laura has a Golden Retriever named Daisy. Besides spending time with her dog at the park, she enjoys spending time with her immediate and extended family and time outdoors at her family cottage. She also has a passion for football, nature, and music.
