Jen received her BS in Psychology and MS in Occupational Therapy from Grand Valley State University. She has experience providing Occupational Therapy in educational, inpatient psychiatric, home health, and outpatient settings in West Michigan, with a focus on pediatrics. She has been practicing at BRAINS since January 2014.
Jen has significant interest and experience working with children and families living with Autism Spectrum Disorders. In 2017, she participated in The PLAY Project’s intensive workshop to refine her skilled intervention using child-led play techniques. She has also earned her Certified Autism Specialist designation, demonstrating a high level of commitment to continuing education and evidence-based practice related to ASD.
Jen works with a range of clients, from early childhood through young adulthood. Her treatment approaches focus on child-led play, sensorimotor learning, brain-body awareness, self-regulation, strength and coordination, behavior modification, task adaptation/environment modification, client/caregiver education, use of the Integrated Listening System, and functional independence in self-care, hygiene, and activities of daily living. Jen believes strongly in providing client-centered therapy that focuses on the individual’s interests and meaningful occupation.
