Joan earned certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in 2019 and works as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) tutor. She works with children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Joan is knowledgeable working with clients of all ages and has experience working with individuals of varying functioning levels. She assists adolescent clients at school and supports families and clients in the home setting. Joan finds this position fulfilling because she is directly improving the quality of life for her clients and the families she supports. She enjoys getting to know the client’s personalities and finds joy in the relationships that develop with each client and their family. Joan’s favorite skills to teach are functional living skills and functional communication because those skills make such a big difference in the lives of both clients and families. Joan has a lot of fun working with clients and families, and now has an assortment of frequently played music and YouTube videos ranging from Shrek, to Dora the Explorer, to Pete the Cat. Joan has earned her Bachelor of Science Degree with an emphasis in Psychology from Cornerstone University and plans to continue her education and become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

When Joan is not working, she is spending quality time with her friends, family, and nieces and nephews. She enjoys spending time in the Michigan outdoors filled with hiking, trail riding, and camping with her horses and dog.
