Kelly’s educational background is in clinical social work with an emphasis in mental health, child welfare, and trauma. Her past employment experience occurred within a residential treatment facility for children, and in a community foster care setting. This work included providing clinical interventions for children of all ages coping with depression, anxiety, complex trauma, behavioral issues, autism, and fetal alcohol syndrome. She has also worked closely with foster and adoptive parents to address trust and attachment concerns. In her therapeutic practice, Kelly utilizes a variety of techniques including play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, zones of regulation, mindfulness techniques, and motivational interviewing. She works to meet the child where they are, and tailor’s therapy to meet each child’s individual needs. At BRAINS, Kelly looks forward to working with children eight years of age and older.

Kelly grew up in Southwest Michigan and moved to Grand Rapids in 2012 to continue her education. Her hobbies include spending time with her nieces and nephews, enjoying the outdoors, writing, and reading. Kelly’s perfect day includes time spent in meaningful conversations and many laughs with close friends. She is passionate about the developing brain and its incredible ability to heal and change throughout the lifespan.
