BRAINS

Stevie Knight

Post Doctoral Resident

Biography

Dr. Stevie Knight (“she series” pronouns) joined BRAINS as a post doctoral resident in neuropsychology in 2023. Dr. Knight completed her Ph.D. in school psychology with a specialization in neuropsychology at Ball State University where she obtained clinical training in culturally-sensitive psychological, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological assessment across the lifespan. During her graduate education, Dr. Knight spent two years conducting school-based evaluations for special education placement and was trained in the development and implementation of evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions within a school setting. She also spent two years working in private practice settings conducting neuropsychological evaluations with individuals of all ages. Dr. Knight’s background in school-based services, particularly her knowledge of educational policy and procedures, prepares her to be a strong advocate for pediatric patients and their families at BRAINS. During her internship year, Dr. Knight worked in a community-based mental health care facility where she had the opportunity to treat individuals presenting with complex trauma, stress-related and emotional disorders, and other behavioral and emotional needs through individual psychotherapy. At BRAINS, she aims to provide collaborative and therapeutic neuropsychological services. While Dr. Knight has conducted a number of ADHD, learning disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and other neurodevelopmental evaluations throughout her training, her clinical interests are vast and include conditions such as memory disorders, movement disorders, traumatic brain injuries, genetic conditions, and other medically-complex concerns across the lifespan. Dr. Knight welcomes the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population presenting with a variety of referral concerns.

Although she is new to Michigan, Dr. Knight already feels right at home in our Northern climate. Born and raised in Northern New York, Dr. Knight is happy to return to cooler temperatures, lush green landscapes, natural lakes, and snowy winters after living in central Midwestern states throughout her doctoral training. In her spare time, Dr. Knight enjoys exploring local culture through food, travel, music, and year-round outdoor activities. Once an avid participant in musical theater, Dr. Knight hopes for the chance to put her years of vocal training back to good use on the stages of Grand Rapids.
