Child & Adolescent Counseling

Treatment of younger clients can take on different forms, from meeting individually with the child to meeting with the family or parents. Therapy can also involve the use of various strategies, including art or play therapy (which relies on the use of art or play to gain a greater understanding of the child’s emotions), role play and activities to practice specific skills, and adapting other strategies in ways that are hands-on and engaging to children. Adolescents often engage in more traditional “talk therapy,” although special techniques might be used to make it easier for the adolescent to express themselves and relate to the therapist.
