Biography

Victoria “Tori” Sheffer (she/her/hers) is a fully licensed social worker and a certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor. She has a passion for working with teens, emerging adults and adults on a variety of treatment needs. In addition to mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, Tori works extensively with patients with addiction struggles, relationship issues, self-esteem, and those exploring their identity.

Tori offers services for individuals, couples, families, and groups, and is available for parent consultation. She also assists with competency restoration and assessments for individuals involved with the court system. Prior to joining BRAINS, Tori worked with the Michigan justice system as well as in residential and outpatient treatment for adults. She has work experience conducting individual therapy and groups.

Tori grew up in Northern Michigan, and lived in Mid-Michigan to attend Alma College before moving to West Michigan for higher education at Grand Valley State University. She really enjoyed living in West Michigan and has lived in the Grand Rapids area with her two cats ever since. Tori enjoys building a therapeutic relationship based on trust that allows the client to feel safe and secure talking to her about their lives. Tori believes in working alongside her clients as they make changes they want to see in their lives and tackle challenges they are facing.
