Course Information
In the wake of school shootings, teen suicides, and videogame addictions, it’s clear – our teens are struggling. This workshop will focus on ways to identify risk factors in teenagers. Participants will gain greater understanding of the teenage brain, develop ways to prevent tragedy, and collaborate effectively with schools and parents. All skill levels are invited to attend; target audience is intermediate and advanced master’s level clinicians and professionals currently serving the teenage population.

Dr. Michael Wolff, PsyD, ABPdN, Jennifer Reminga, LMSW, CAADC, Geoff Stevens, LMSW, and Alisha Lauchie, LMSW
Course instructors are currently employed at BRAINS; providing behavioral resources and neuropsychological services. Instructors are highly specialized in areas of behavioral, mental, and neurodevelopmental health.
Objectives
- Participants will gain a better understanding of brain development in teens that puts them at risk.
- Participants will be able to identify the risk factors and behavioral clues to watch for.
- Participants will be able to engage in strategies to prevent tragedy and support teens.
- Participants will learn how Autism Spectrum Disorders and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) impact risk.
- Participants will be able to coordinate support efforts with schools and parents.

This organization (BRAINS, ACE Provider #1541) is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program. BRAINS maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: 11/22/2017-11/22/2018. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits. Social workers participating in this course will receive 6 clinical continuing education clock hours. Participants must attend the entire training session and complete a course evaluation in order to receive CE’s. Partial certificates will not be issued for this training. Certificates will be distributed at the end of the training session.
